This training session covered a wide range of essential topics, encompassing the role and responsibilities of a first aider.

Gravitas Medical Solutions is renowned for its commitment to excellence in healthcare training, and their course offered an impressive array of vital topics.

The Role and Responsibility of a First Aider:

The training began with an exploration of the fundamental duties and responsibilities of a first aider. The importance of remaining calm and composed in times of crisis, providing reassurance to those in distress, and taking charge of the situation to ensure the best possible outcomes were emphasized.

Assessing an Incident:

Dave and Mike urged the participants to approach every emergency scenario systematically. They taught the group how to conduct a thorough assessment of an incident, taking into consideration the safety of all individuals involved.

Managing an Unresponsive Casualty:

Next, the training focused on handling unresponsive casualties effectively. The friends learned how to check for signs of breathing and circulation while ensuring their safety and calling for professional help.

CPR and Defibrillation:

The group delved into the life-saving techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation. Demonstrations and practical exercises equipped them to respond confidently in case of cardiac arrest, increasing the chances of survival for the victim.

Recovery Position:

Learning how to place an unconscious but breathing person in the recovery position was another crucial skill that would make a significant difference in real-life emergencies.

Addressing Specific Medical Conditions:

The training then ventured into addressing specific medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, strokes, choking incidents in adults, children, and infants, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, anaphylaxis, shock, head, and spinal injuries.

Wounds and Bleeding:

Dave and Mike provided guidance on managing wounds and bleeding, teaching the group how to apply pressure dressings and tourniquets when necessary.

Fractures, Sprains, Strains, and Dislocations:

Participants also gained insight into recognizing and treating fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations. Immobilization techniques and the importance of prompt medical attention were emphasized.

Minor Injuries, Burns, and Scalds:

Understanding how to treat minor injuries, burns, and scalds safely was another crucial aspect of the course. The friends learned about the importance of cleaning, dressing, and seeking medical advice when needed.

Poisoning and Eye Injuries:

The group was educated on the signs of poisoning and how to respond appropriately. Additionally, they acquired the knowledge to manage eye injuries with care and precision.

Equipped with the training delivered by Dave and Mike from Gravitas Medical Solutions, the group are now prepared to deliver first aid, potentially saving lives and providing critical support until professional help arrives.

The day went so quickly due to the engaging teaching and comfortable surroundings, a big thank you to Gravitas, the whole group passed!
