Visicon supports companies with the implementation of machine vision systems within the automated manufacturing process. The tech that Visicon engages with helps businesses monitor, measure, identify and inspect their products to ensure only good-looking, in-specification products make it out to market. The business also provides all the needed training to companies to take ownership of their solutions.

Visicon was founded in 2012 by Peter Jelf who was looking for a way to utilise his own skills and experience and provide clients with a quality, technical resource they could trust. It works with a number of household names across the UK, including Jaguar Land Rover, Unilever and Glaxo Smith Kline as well as many machine builders.

Peter originally started out as a freelancer, however after the COVID crisis, he wanted to make the business more resilient to market changes and decided to expand his team. It has recently taken on three new staff members including, Digital Marketing Apprentice Naomi, Machine Vision Engineer Mpho and Intern Naveen. One of Peter’s main goals is to help ‘foster the next generation’ of machine vision engineers, so has an extensive training and shadowing program with his team.

One challenge that the business has overcome was the feeling of trying to appear as specialising in too many things - diluting its core offerings. In 2023, Visicon had a complete rebranding, expanding the team and focusing on being the standout company for machine vision solutions.

Visicon has recently entered its largest single contract to date, meaning the company is set to potentially double last year's turnover. It is now officially a Cognex (leading machine vision manufacturer) Partner System Integrator (PSI) allowing them a relationship with Cognex’s clients - a signifier of being one of the leading businesses in the market.

Peter has said that he is extremely proud of the reputation Visicon has within the industry. Despite still being an emerging business, Visicon has grown purely on reputation, as it continues to gain and retain customers.

Visicon have been TownSq members for over two years and have been one of the longest tenants at the Shell Store.
