The best and brightest of local enterprise was celebrated recently at the Herefordshire Business Awards. The event was held at the Shell Store and saw business founders and workers get together to recognise the fantastic achievements of local enterprises.
Herefordshire Means Business (HMB), which is also based at the Shell Store, was founded in 2016 as the ‘heartbeat of economic vitality in the heart of England’. It is a collaborative platform dedicated to promoting and supporting local businesses, fostering economic growth, and creating a vibrant network of entrepreneurs and professionals.
Not long after the founding of HMB, the inaugural Herefordshire Business Awards took place in 2017, and today it is the largest event in Herefordshire to identify emerging local businesses and build a strong community across the county.
The event had 16 award categories and every independent business in Hereford was able to enter.
Amongst several winners this year was our very own Julia Lowther, the Hub Assistant at Shell Store, who won the “Employee of the Year” award for her tireless commitment towards member satisfaction and promoting the local community. Her winning the award is a testament to her dedicated service towards bettering the experiences of our members.
“I’m honoured to have won this award. It’s a great joy to know that your work has a meaningful impact on the local community and I’m so happy to continue to work with such lovely people,” said Julia.
Fellow members of the TownSq team at Shell Store were delighted to see their colleague recognised. Emily Gladwin, the Digital Marketing Apprentice at the hub said, “Julia definitely deserved to win employee of the year, she works so hard keeping all of our members happy and looked after. She goes above and beyond in her role and it’s amazing to see her get the recognition she deserves.”
The awards ceremony was held at TownSq’s Shell Store coworking space, which has established itself as an integral part of Herefordshire by giving several businesses a network to connect with like-minded communities.
